July 2008, The Additions

These are the nine photos that I will be adding this month, I am currently printing these along with a few others that may be added but these nine are definitely going to be offered.

I also received my first canvas wrap print from Canvas on Demand and I will offer wraps as a special order item for anyone who would like to buy. These wraps are excellent quality and I am very happy to work with the great people at Canvas on Demand. The reason I’m not going to list them as a regular product is price, while I feel that the quality of the wraps is worth every penny they are a bit more than regular prints. If interested in ordering a wrap send me an email with which photo and I’ll get back to you with a size recommendation and a price.

July 2008 (Update 1)

The beginning of July finds me a bit under the weather and unfortunately this has impacted on some studio work, but I can say that by the end of the month there will be new photos available (just finishing processing and then I’ll have them test printed) and I will be doing a little housecleaning with some photos currently available.

Last month saw a couple of photo shoots and the summer will also see a couple more and a site design or two.

The world is alive around here and I’ve been shooting quite a bit so in the next few months in addition to what will be added later this month I hope to see even more photos added.

It has been over one year and I’ve been very pleased with the first year. Sold a few photos, built a few sites and overall I actually exceeded my initial expectations. I stated when I first started that all I wanted to do was sell one photo and that it was would be a success to me. The second year I hope to double the first year.

WOW! I’ve been so busy that I completely neglected to actually write an entry for April. Well, things have been going quite swimmingly for Chris Miller Studios and while I haven’t been able to add any new photos to the catalog here I am working on making my photos better and I’ve also been doing a photo project aptly named Abi 385 over at cyclingplatypus.com where I take and post at least one photo a day of my favorite model Abi as we chronicle her 7th year, so far it has been a lot of fun and I have got some fun plans for future photos, so please swing by and check it out.

On the business side, I’ve been working on a few sites and have actually committed myself to taking a few family portraits this spring/summer. I’ll begin adding and removing photos again in just a few weeks, so if you have your eye on something and aren’t ready to order just jot down the item number or a description, who knows if it will be included in the next update.

March, the beginning of the end of winter and the beginning for the world outside to come back alive. March will see a few additions to the store and anyone who orders from the photo store this month will be the recipient of a free print.

January was a pretty slow on the photography front, but this was by choice.

I decided that I’d focus the month of January on the “business” side of the studio. I’ve got a plan for this year and a flexible business plan for the next few years., so I’m pretty pleased with that.

The month of February is going to be an interesting experiment, every photo that I take and display on the blog in February will be black & white, that’s right I’m kicking it old school, going back to my roots.

The new year is upon us and if it is like the last it’ll be over before you you know it.

A few goals for this year are:

- Add to the catalog and take some great photos.

- Host and possibly sell other artists work. I think that if someone has a passion for something they do and want to share it they should be able to, I also realize that to some the prospect of building and maintaining a website is a little too much for them.

- Build my portfolio with different jobs (i.e. non traditional portraits). A primary goal for me is to branch out and take photos of people, but I don’t want to take plain old portraits, I want to capture a memory for them, be it a favorite place or favorite thing, the possibilities are endless. I want to take a photo that five to ten years down the road the person looks at it and it brings back a pleasant memory and a smile remembering that time.
